Well, it's that time of the year again. Time for parties and festivities. Wait, you must have me confused with someone who leads such a life. No, I'm talking about, it's time to chose what book challenges I'm going to participate in. What path my book reading will be following. Exciting, huh?
Last year, I participated in the Notable Book Challenge, and subjected my loyal readers to my incredibly awful book reviews. Sorry folks, I'm doing it again for 2009. The only difference is that I am selecting my books from a different list. Last year I worked primarily from the New York Times Notable list, a sort of more high-brow list if you will. Well, this year I'm working from the Publishers Weekly list of books, which I consider a little more user friendly. But to up the ante a bit, I'm also choosing 5 nonfiction books to read. Except here is the twist, I'm going to listen to them! How perfect is that, read fiction, and listen to non-fiction! This way I won't get plots and characters confused as I sometimes do between my audible book and my print book. Sometimes I have such good ideas, it's scary!
I don't have my lists finalized yet, when I do, I'll post them on the side like I did last year, but my first four arrived this week.
Is there anything that warms the heart more to a reader then a stack of fresh new books waiting to be read?!

I'm not much of a nonfiction reader so the idea of the audio for them is a great one!
A few years ago I printed out a list of Pulitzer prize winners for fiction and read those. Was a great way for me to learn of new authors and they were good! Duh, Pulitzer prize winners!
I am in three book clubs, so I will be following the reviews to share with others!
Happy 2009 to you!
Happy new year!
wish i could say i got that excitement that lasts... lol i have a stack waiting on me, and i barely cracked open the first one! you inspire me! :D
Pam what a great list! Happy New Year to you and your family. All the best!
I've enjoyed your book reviews, and admire your ability to read stacks of novels. If I took the time to start one, my life would be on hold until I finished, I'm afraid, so I don't read much these days. Maybe when the kids are all grown and gone.
Happy New Year, Pam!
I love looking at my stacks of books!!!
Happy New Year!
Exactly! A new stack of books is so exciting!
BTW - I like your book reviews.
Here's to a year of great reading - cheers!
