My husband thinks it's a downy too. Here in NE Minnesota we have been seeing a lot of partridge sitting in our trees. They are a large round bird so it is fun to watch them perched on the skinny bare branches at the top of the trees. Pam, I have a question about the Zoji bread machine. I have made about 4 different loaves, all white & half white/half wheat in my new X-20 but the bottom crust has turned out too hard each time. Is there something I need to do differently or is this a machine I need to return for another? Any tips would be appreciated. Thanks.
I vote Robert Downey Jr. woodpecker. So fun to see new birds in your yard, isn't it? I recently discovered a Red-Bellied woodpecker running up and down the trunks of my rose trees.
I'll have to ask my kids! Whichever kind the wee birdie may be, it's lovely. I love the action shot of it flying away! What does Patchouli think of all the birdies?
All I can tell you is that it's not the legendary giant woodpecker which used to inhabit the Ozarks, commonly called the "Lord God Bird", because people would see it and exclaim, "Lord, God, What is that bird?"

Hairy Potter Robert Downey Jr. Woodpecker. This one's for Bob.
It's difficult to tell from the photo, but a hairy woodpecker has a longer bill and larger body. So I'm thinkin it's a downy. Blessings. Susan

Well, to add to the confusion, it could also be a Yello-bellied Sapsucker. Kat
