Have you been fretting since last Friday about what to serve with the Grilled Lemongrass Beef? Well, fret no more my peeps, the answer is Cauliflower with Garlic and Pepper.
Now, I am not a big fan of cauliflower. I rarely buy it, but sometimes it is so pretty looking and on sale, that before I know it, it is in my cart. (They sometimes sucker me in like this with eggplant too.) So, there I was with some pretty looking, on sale, cauliflower and Quick & Easy Vietnamese: 75 Everyday Recipes
This was wonderful! Seriously good. So good, that I may actually buy cauliflower when it's not on sale, just to eat this. Really. Also, the next day this and the beef made a fabulous fried rice. Perfect!
Cauliflower with Garlic and Pepper
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
1 tablespoon chopped garlic
about 4 cups small cauliflower florets
2 tablespoons fish sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
2 green onions trimmed and cut into 1 - inch lengths (I used chives)
2 tablespoons coarsely choppef fresh cilantro, dill or mint (I used cilantro)
Heat the garlic in a large skillet over medium-high heat. When hot add the garlic. Toss well and add the cauliflower. Cook for about 1 minute and then toss to brown the other side. Add the fish sauce, water, sugar, pepper and the green onions. Cook until the cauliflower is cooked, but still a little crunchy, about 2 minutes. Stir in your herb of choice, and then serve.

My husband isn't a big fan of califlower but maybe this recipe might sway him toward becoming a fan. Thanks for the idea!!! :)
Well, we knew that if given the choice of cilantro or other herbs, you would choose cilantro, didn't we?
I like cauliflower, but I have some non-fans. It's a good vegetable for adding some flavors to, isn't it?
Looks so good - I only wish my husband liked cauliflower. I may just make this for myself someday.

This sounds so good and simple to make. I find almost anything becomes addictive with fish sauce on it.
