Public Service Announcement - Use Your Herbs

Fresh Snipped Herbs

I'd like to take a moment from my regularly scheduled programming and present this Public Service Announcement about your herbs.

If you are like me, you have a lovely, flourishing herb garden. And if you are also like me, you probably don't use it nearly as much as you should. I know..I know. It's a pain, while in the middle of your artistic endeavors in the kitchen, to run out to the garden and snip, snip. I get it.

Ready for Anything

My solution, which I am graciously sharing with you, is that every few days, I go snip a bunch of herbs. An assortment if you will. I bring them in, wash them, and set them in cute glasses on my window sill. There they are ready to be used, at a moment's notice, on a whim. As an extra benefit, you herbs enjoy all the regular trimming and produce even more.

Your welcome.

Well, I have printed out your public service announcement and taped it in a prominent place in my kitchen. Now, to do it may be another matter...

What a terrific idea. I will have to try that. Of course, now I have to plant my herbs. LOL Only thing I have that is still alive is the Rosemary.......

Pam, a great idea! Although the only herbs flourishing in my garden are sage, thyme and oregano. And in my window sill I always have a pot of basil. I want to have more herbs in the garden, but I still have to create space for them.
I regularly use the sage though, and the basil. So I don't feel too guilty ;-)

But your post inspired me. Thanks for sharing this genius idea ;-)

(It's great to be back in blogworld. Big smiles to you.)

Love this idea....I'm like you...a wonderful little herb garden that I don't use nearly enough. I will be implementing this system tomorrow! :) Thanks Pam! :)

I just picked up the Hallmark pot of herbs ... I'll be planting them tonight and will likely have to transplant them after they start to really get going in the 'pail' I'm looking forward to having fresh herbs again! WEET!!

blessings! (great tip too)

Love the herb on the windowsill idea. I wonder if my kitty cats would consider it their salad bar, though. Hmmm ... only one way to find out!

I enjoy reading the information that you post especially the recipes. I have recently purchased some herbs--cilantro, basil, oregano and parsley. What a difference in taste it provides from using the dried. Thanks for posting such informative info.

That is a great idea- and pretty too! now, if I can just get the herbs to grow a bit faster....love the strawberry picture too- ours are not ready until June.

Great idea! I think herbs, especially sage, make a really pretty bouquet anyway. So it looks good and smells good and is right there waiting to be used. What could be better?

I am also growing some herbs in the window box under my kitchen window. My screen is bent so I took it out. Now I just reach over the sink and open the window to water and trim the herbs.

I moved my herb garden so it is right outside the kitchen window. When I am prepping I see it and can usually find inspiration from there.

However, my herbs grow like weeds in that space and I am up to 13 varieties right now that I have no flipping clue what I am going to do. I like this suggestion a lot.
