Cooking, baking, canning, reading, sewing, drinking wine, gardening, teaching, watching bad reality tv. Apparently that is not enough, I've decided to quilt.
Actually if you could see my huge fabric stash, you'd realize that this is a no-brainer. And the first rule I made was that I couldn't buy any new fabric, I had to use what was in my stash. And see all those lovely squares above, all from my stash, and there is still about 3,647 pounds of fabric left.
But, what is it they say about rules? Something about, made to be broken. Because oh-my-gosh, I found this website, Fat Quarter Shop. I am no longer responsible for my actions.

Quilting, do you really need another hobby? but if my Christmas present was a warm quilt, I wouldn't mind, my radiators aren't working
Let's be honest - rules are made to be broken. I'm sure the finished product will be beautiful!
I've quilted for years. I made my first quilt in 1984, a king size quilt. I could not find a bed spread I liked so just made my own and I was hooked on quilting from then on.
Are you trying to lay a quilt trip on us? :)
I love quilting and i think it is cruel that you have passed on that link.
You sound like me:)
Beautiful site you linked us too also..have you seen the fabric that you print on? You can add it to quilts:)
That sounds like so much fun! I wish I was your neighbour, I would play with you in your adventures.
You are so talented!
Fat Quarter Shop: great website! Quilting will be such fun and you already sound completely absorbed in your new hobby. Have fun!

I am sure I'll enjoy living vicariously through you as you quilt. Can't wait!
Oh my goodness Pam, you are so funny. Quilting is fun. I too have a umbelievable stash of cloth that would clothe the whole county!
stargirl - don't worry there a lot of these will be destined for you!
Joanne - I'm glad you agree with me on the whole rules thing.
Michelle - post some of your quilts, I would love to see them!
Chris - hee, hee!
Maybelle's Mom - I need someone to share in my fabric lust.
La Table - yes, I've seen that fabric. And yes, I want some.
Natshya - see you could make some cheese that we could eat while you watched me cook. Perfect.
Noble - thanks, but it's still in single square form. Hold your judgement till it's finished.
Barbara - thanks!
Judi - do you know how many times I've wanted to use the word vicariously in a comment, but I don't because I never knew how to spell it?!
Kat - I think the fabric multiplies while we are sleeping.
I like women like you... I don't even know why... Thank Heaven, for little girls....
Good for you for finding all these lovely hobbies.
I made a quilt for my mother in law's 80th birthday. I've not tried it again. And since I have a stash that gets additions even when it doesn't need them, why would I think the Fat Quarter shop is wrong? Call me if you need enabling excuses.
That is an excellent link to avoid. I have more fabric coming in than going out at the moment.
Pam, you crack me up!
Me too ~ I adore the Fat Quarter Shop. My fabric stash is way ahead of me so I force myself to delete their emails so I am not tempted to buy more.
I can't wait to see what you create from your stash, it will be beautiful, I'm sure. xo
Quilting seems way out of my league, but one of these days, I swear I'm going to take up knitting. Can't wait to see what you create!
So impressive! I love the combination of colors you have picked out.
I would love to see the quilt when you are done with it. The fabric squares are beautiful and I love those colors. I think it's great that you have so many interests. I wish I was a little more diverse in my interests. Rules are meant to be broke. I agree with Joanne on that one.
I am not sure you HAVE to count quilting as a new hobby if you don't want to - I would put it down as an extension of your existing involvement with all things fabric.
Now downhill mountain biking - That would be a new direction for you.
Ohmigosh, you're preaching to the choir, Pam! My fabric stash just grows and grows. I am getting my king size log cabin quilt back from the quilter soon - can't wait to post pics for everyone to see!
Welcome Pam. You have the fabric stash. You've found the website. Now all you need to do is learn the secret handshake. (insert evil Vincent Price laugh here).
you make me tired just reading about all you do! pretty fabric! a friend of mine just started to quilt and has really liked it -- she's done quite a few projects in a short amount of time.
