Mellow Mushroom Sunday

Tempeh

Most of you know that I have a photo blog.  I like to take pictures.  Some of them are good and some of them are not so good.  Like many things in life, the joy is in the process not necessarily the end product, or at least that’s what I like to tell myself.

So, sometimes, we go on photo walks.  Sometimes, the photo walks occur during a meal time, and we are simply, just forced to stop somewhere and eat.  Forced, I tell you.  That’s what happened last weekend, when we found ourselves wandering around downtown Chattanooga at lunch time on a Sunday.  We happened to be walking right by Mellow Mushroom, and they had open tables outside, and it was a glorious spring day, and the rest is history.

My husband had the Tempeh hoagie pictured above.    I had a few bites of it, it had some sort of tapenade that really made it flavorful.

Club

I got some sort of club, I don’t remember what it was called exactly, I didn’t read any further than bacon.  I have to say, even with bacon, it was disappointing.  It was all moistened with just a smidge of mayo on the hoagie.  So, basically it was undressed lettuce, tomatoes, lunchmeat and bacon on bread.  It would have benefitted from some sort of vinaigrette or something to give it some flavor.

This will be my entry for Foodie Friday at Designs by Gollum!

one of the problem of cooking well and having lots of good recipes at your fingertips is that when you go out you are often disappointed. The other problem is all that darn clean up.

No offense to your club sandwich, but your husband's dish looks simply delicious! I should do this while I'm running. Just run twenty minutes before I normally have lunch and then eat wherever I end up.

At least it looked very good.

I agree, a sandwich with lettuce needs some vinaigrette there for flavor and moisture. Definitely takes things a notch up.

Well at least you got fabulous photos.

I hate when I spend good money on bad food.

The Mellow Mushroom is a favorite hangout here too.
Sometimes it's not all about the food ~just the mellowness.

Your hoagie looks so good... too bad it was a bit dry. Your husbands sandwich looks mighty tasty.

Both sandwiches look great, sorry to hear your bacon didn't taste as good as it looked.

LOL
I really didn't know you have a photoblog. Why didn't I know that? I'll have to check it out of course. And perhaps even become a follower :-)

So, you're telling me that bacon can lead to disappointment? Interesting.

Not all bacon is created equal. Some times it is not that good even on its own.

That does it. I am going to try out Mellow Mushroom. I go by one all the time but have never stopped there because it is in the same parking lot as my very favorite Thai place.

Good evening, Pam,
I've never known bacon to be bad...I do agree that when you like to cook at home, the meals you get when you go to eat out are disappointing.

Have a blessed Easter. ~Natalie
