This is my most recent basil harvest, my third of the season. The first harvest became basil vinegar. The second harvest became basil pesto. This harvest was chopped in a food processor with a little olive oil and frozen in an ice cube tray. The cubes were then popped out and stored in a ziploc bag. Ready to add summery basil flavor to soups and pastas all winter long.
I’m hoping to get one more harvest in before it gets too cold at night and the basil says bye-bye.
This will be my entry for Foodie Friday at Designs by Gollum!

Oh basil...how I shall miss thee!
The frost has kissed the last of my flowers here. I'm glad you got one more harvest of basil Pam!
Happy Weekend!

I have basil envy...
BEAUTIFUL!! My basil is now but a memory BUT I too froze some for winter use!!
Blessings!

I'm hoping for one more harvest, too. The plants are still robust, but I know the first frost isn't too far away.
Wow---you have really made great use of your basil this year. You will certainly enjoy it ALL of the upcoming year... Congrats!!!
Hugs,
Betsy
I'm planning a big harvest soon to turn into pesto. I'd hate to lose it all to frost!
You probably get one more harvest down there. Up here? Well, I feel like we're on borrowed warmth at 62 today. Of course, it's been raining like no one's business all month, so we've paid the price.
You've made the most of your basil crop, Pam. Now you'll have it frozen for winter. Super idea.
Just planted mine - it being spring here down here. Looking forward to that distinctive aroma that says *summer*
I picked a large batch last week. I hope mine lasts for a few weeks more. I do the ice cube tray thing too. There is nothing like fresh (even if it's frozen) basil.
Yeah, we sadly finished our last batch off last weekend.
My basil did not do well this year, sadly.... maybe it was planted to late - and our bone dry summer. Well done on your wonderful harvest. Enjoy!
