If you live somewhere where you can grow Nandina you simply must. And see, if this was a regular garden post, from a regular garden blog, I would give you charts and graphs and zones and things. But it’s not. So, all I can tell you is that it does wonderful in Tennessee. It’s evergreen, has gorgeous berries, and the new growth is a beautiful deep red.
Please join me for Garden Tuesday.

That red really is vibrant. It would make me so happy to see it amongst all the dead leaves.
It's been in our yard since my childhood in Arkansas and it grows well here in the mountains too. I love it for the same reasons you do Pam.

Nandina is a beautiful plant. We grew it in Texas but, sadly, it doesn't do well in Nebraska. Lucky you Pam!
I have several and love using them in greenery arrangements because the berries last so must longer than holly or pyracantha. I've tried the yellow variety without any success.
The downside of Nandina is that they spread. Between the root shoots and the ones planted by the birds, I have to dig them out periodically.
They are pretty though. They don't call it heavenly bamboo for nothing, I guess.
Wow it is beautiful!
Do you know if they grow in Jersey? Beautiful..I am going to look around
I'm a big fan of Nandina and your photo of it is wonderful. Its bright color is a wonderful addition to any garden that needs a low growing shrub. I hope you have a great day. Blessings...Mary
Very pretty. I wonder how well it would do in Pennsylvania?

That's just magnificent!!! I do believe I check it out to see if I can grow it here in the Ozarks. It would be a wonderful addition to my acre of flora and fauna.
You have yourself a terrifically blessed and beautiful Tuesday sweetie!!! :o)
And if it was a regular garden post, by a regular garden blogger, and you told us boring statistics, instead of charming us with your pictures, we'd all head elsewhere. Instead, we'll admire your Nandina!
I love nandina...it is one of my most favorite plants! Happy Gardening to you, Pam :)
Great contrast between the red and green
Hi Pam,
Your Nandina is stunning! I will have to do some research on it as I live in the Northeast. The color looks similar to our burning bushes. I'm happy to be able to join you this week.
I thought this was a type of bamboo! Must be very similar.
