Nigella’s Praised Chicken

Nigella's Praised Chicken

Sometimes you want fancy-schmancy and sometimes you want comfort in a bowl. A nice warm hug.  This is it.  Now, I know it’s spring for a lot of you and that means lighter eating, salads start popping up on the menu.  But don’t rule out a wonderful bowl of this.  I don’t know how it is where you live, but here – everything is covered in a heavy layer of yellow pollen.  It’s everywhere.  And with that brings watery eyes, sniffles, and sneezes.  You are just as miserable as if you had a cold.  And that spring time misery gets a big smack in the face with this big old bowl of wholesomeness.

Nigella's praised chicken

Eagle eyes may recognize this chicken as the one I was making while wearing my much loved new Chef’s Emporium Coat! Just look at that chicken in my pot.  Isn’t it lovely?  Doesn’t it already make you feel good, just looking at it.  I served this over some brown rice and felt loved.

I found the recipe in Nigella Kitchen: Recipes from the Heart of the Home but you can also find it online Nigella’s Praised Chicken so I won’t bother retyping it.  The only thing I will do differently next time, is slice the leeks. I’d like them to almost melt into the sauce.

Give yourself a bowl of love.

This will be my entry for Foodie Friday at Designs by Gollum!

Thankfully I'm allergy free but I can see why this big bowl of comfort would be necessary..pretty much any time!

i tend to prefer my hugs to be of the physical variety, but if that's not an option, this sounds like a terrific alternative. :)

We got a great rain last night and hopefully washed all that nasty pollen away! We live in the pines, so you can just imagine how much of that yellow stuff is everywhere. So glad for the rain, and with the cool down, I am going to make a turkey stew!

Love any stewed type chicken. You're right, a hug in a bowl!

The weather here is just ca-razy! I went out for a run 4 days ago and was getting hit in the face by snow pellets halfway into the run! UGH! I wish I'd have seen this recipe that day, I would have made it for sure. But, I may still get the chance in the next few days, the weather is THAT crazy here!

Well the temps here just plunged like the neckline of a Nigella sweater top so this comfort food is timely!
