Kate Parker is paranoid. Well, not paranoid exactly, let’s say, “overly cautious” or even “constant state of heightened anxiety.” And, let’s face it, she has lots to be anxious about…her parents died in freak accident and her husband was brutally murdered. So, it is understandable that she is overly protective of her son Jack.
But when she finally meets someone and starts to relax and possibly go back to the old Kate, little things start happening. Is she imaging them or is something going on?
A wonderful page turner, I kept second guessing myself the whole time. My only complaint, and it’s a minor one, is that the ending seemed to wrap up too quickly. After unfolding the story in one deliciously puzzling layer after another, I would have liked a bit more time to digest the ending.
A new favorite author, I understand that Accidents Happen: A Novel is her second book, I have already added her first novel, The Playdate on my wish list!
