As I count down the days of school left (36!), I pause to enjoy the traces of spring. This time of the year is amazing, the garden literally seems to change overnight. I take photos on a Monday and by Wednesday it looks completely different. Something new has popped up, or the bud has opened and now I need to take a photograph of the flower.
But I know that spring is not really here until I see the hardwood trees start to bud. I love the large buds so full of promise on this hickory tree. We have about 6 hickory trees on our property, which probably explains the large squirrel population. Also, any branches that fall off make perfect wood for my smoker. I’m not going to tell you how long it took for me to make the connection between “hickory smoked” and my hickory trees.
I love these tulips popping up from amidst all the winter/fall browns. How about you, what’s popping up in your garden?
