I’ve told you over and over how much I love oakleaf hydrangeas. Really? You don’t remember? Just Google Sidewalk Shoes and Oakleaf Hydrangeas and grab a cup of tea, because I talk about them a lot. You know that game where you decide what one thing you could take with you on a deserted island – well if it was played with plants, I would take an oakleaf hydrangea. Wait a minute, I just realized that I should probably take a plant that provides food. Whatever. I still love oakleaf hydrangeas.
They have something going on all year long. Even in the winter when there are no leaves, these large cone-shaped heads of browned flowers provide an interesting shape in the garden.
And, for no other reason than I liked the look of my porch rail petunias in the evening sun. They practically glow, which I had a hard time showing.
