A review of Smashberry Red Wine 2013 for Weekend Wine Reviews #341.
Smashberry Red Wine 2013, Santa Maria, California. Wine Awesomeness. They say: This wine is made up of 38% Merlot, 34% Petite Sirah, and 28% Cabernet Sauvignon. It is from the Santa Maria Valley, just north of Santa Barbara and slightly inland. Close enough to the ocean though for the morning fog to roll in over the vineyard. On the nose: Stewed red fruits, roasted purple plums, wet tobacco and black licorice sprinkled with cinnamon. On the palate: soft and full, tastes like a chocolate covered red starburst that was dropped in water.
We say: Lots of berry, but not overly sweet or jammy. Plums with a hint of spice. Really enjoyed this one!
Some other reds that we enjoyed: Cardeal Colheita Seleccionada and Adego Da Vila 2016.

I'd buy it for the name!

Not heard of this wine before and I live in California. I'll give it a try.
Have a fabulous day. ☺
