A few photos of our cat, Luxie, enjoying the spring time weather with windows wide open!
Luxie is our first cat to be a completely indoor cat. We've had cats for over 20 years, so this is something completely new to us. All of our other cats have been indoor/outdoor. They come and go at will, though we do make every effort to get them to come inside at night. I typically go out after dinner and try and wrangle the cats to come back inside. In the winter, they come in on their own, but as the weather warms up, they don't want to come in. They remind me of children wanting to stay outside and play. I'm pretty good at getting them in, they've probably stayed out all night a handful of times.
But after Luxie had such a traumatic arrival, we made the decision to keep her as indoor cat. On the one hand, it is so much easier, not having to worry about her outside, but I also worry that she gets bored. I work from home mostly, so I try and play with her every time I take a break. I know there are people that go to work all day and their cats are fine, but still I feel a little guilty.
I try to open the windows whenever I can on these cool spring mornings. She loves to sit and look out. I've also started taking her out on the screened in back porch for a few minutes in the afternoon, with the cat flap blocked. She seems to enjoy the porch time, but she is kind of skittish and is ready to go back in as soon as I stand up. I originally thought that I might try to train her on a leash, but the couple times that I tried to put a harness on her did not go well at all!
As for me, I am still super busy with prom photos, but I did manage to remember to get an artsy photo today!
I used the Topaz Labs Simplify plugin for her artsy edit.

We've had a pretty mild spring so far, so have been able to have the window open more. I say window because the kitchen window is the only one we can really open. Old house, plus we have window air conditioners in two windows. The kithen window is above the sink so it's hard for Alice to get up there, but we put a stool there to make it easier. She gets up there occasionally. Arya is the one that revels in it. She's always stretched full length, sunning. 🙂
Living in the suburb of a big city, I have just always kept mine indoors. I hate when Alice runs outside. I worry constantly.
I LOVE the art shot!

What beautiful photos! We're past the indoor-outdoor kitty stage and the lack of outdoor worry is wonderful.

Indoor cats are better off and healthier too! Good for you! Our Lucy in mostly indoors,

I didn't know Luxie had been found inside a car engine. What a big adventure! She was very lucky!

How do you let the other cats in and out and keep her in? Or does she just not want to go out?
Piper used to be an indoor/outdoor kitty but after going over the back yard fence one too many times at my husband's prior house...I put the foot down when we moved in together an he has been indoor only since then. He does get to go out everyday and sit on the front steps or back patio with me in his harness and leash. He doesn't mind it since it allows him to go out . I did a lot of research to make sure to get one that isn't too uncomfortable.

I was an indoor cat for 5 years and then I was an outdoor cat, and now I'm an in-out-garden-cat, and that's okay with me...now. I think an open window is better than nothing especially with the trauma thingie, right Luxie😸 Pawkisses for a Happy Day☺❤

The arty effect is lovely. We have a very big garden which is secure so I can go out there whenever I want to. Before I became ill I used to join my mum when she walked around our fields to check the horses, but I wasn't allowed in them on my own.

Some cats are happier in doors and I guess Luxie is too,but at least you have the screened porch for her to experience as well,xx Speedy

As an out and in cat (mainly out) my peep does worry a lot about me, so I can understand how you must feel about your cats. It is lovely Luxie does want to be in, and that she has somewhere safe to be. And what a way to arrive! She looks so lovely in your image for this weeks selfies, ever a delight to see.

Luxie is so beautiful, I just read about her arrival. I am glad she is inside only, it is much safer.

We love having the windows open too. Though today it's rather cool and kinda rainy...no open windows today. We love what you did with Luxie's photo.

I am extremely anti allowing cats to be indoor/outdoor, but I feel differently if an area is rather safe and if the cat is supervised. I have read and heard of too many horror stories. (Coyotes, cars, etc). So glad Luxie is indoor only.
Marty the Manx says
She is so pretty. I know that Marty would never go outside of Ralphie didn't. He just isn't interested otherwise.
Peaches and Paprika says
We love the artsy window affect and Luxie looks quite content and relaxed. Have a happy weekend, both of you!

Beautiful!
Athena is indoor only now. When she was younger I used to take her out in a harness but that didn't go down too well and she escaped.
I am hoping to build her a catio soon.

Very pretty. The pop of pink from the orchid really sets the greens off. If Luxie is skittish about being on the porch, she is probably happy as an indoor kitty. If she were really bored, she'd be letting you know!

I just watched the arrival of Luxie on your link, wow! That was quite a birth from a Subaru. She is a stunningly beautiful cat. We had always had indoor outdoor cats but right now we only have the one dog.
