Cranberry Orange Smoothie
It's about that time. The time to start thinking about using up the eight bags of cranberries that your froze last year around this time. Apparently I have a deathly fear of running out of cranberries. It use to be somewhat of a challenge to use up the bags that I so carefully squirreled away. But now that I have my much loved, Vitamix, I am using them up like crazy!

Frozen cranberries are like little red ice cubes, filled with tart goodness. I toss them by the handful into almost any smoothie I'm making, or at least the red ones. Yes, I tend to make my smoothies by color. I have green smoothies, red smoothies, purple smoothies and brown smoothies. Smoothies in all colors. It seems to work well, when I don't have a particular smoothie recipe in mind.
This time, though, I went looking for cranberry smoothie recipes. The first one I found from Real Simple, Fresh Cranberry and Orange Smoothie, sounded perfect. This was so good, I've made it 3 times this week already. Well, I did buy a big bag of oranges, so that's also a push to make this over and over again. I love the way my Vitamix has turned dessert into a healthy treat. I made this both with almond milk and regular milk and I tend to prefer the regular milk - it seems to let the cranberry and orange flavors shine through more. So healthy and so delicious!

This smoothie looks & sounds so yummy! I have a bag of frozen cranberries, & all the other ingredients on hand (this rarely happens to me), so will make this for my breakfast today. Just FYI, I analyzed the nutrition in this recipe, & here it is: 192 calories, 28g carbs, 3g fat, 11g protein, 116mg soda & 19g sugars. I find that not all smoothies are "healthy" as far as calories, carbs & fat, but this one is really a winner, & perfect for Fall. TYFS!
