Luxie Cat and the Orchids
As you can see, one of Luxie's favorite places to sit is on a table in front of our dining room window. On that table are three orchid plants. The one plant that you can see in this photo just blooms like crazy. Right now it has two stems that are going to start blooming. It blooms several times a year.
The other two orchids haven't bloomed in a couple of year. The plant that blooms the most was potted in just regular old potting soil. The other two were potted in an orchid potting mix that basically looks like wood mulch. When I water them, the the water pretty much just runs through.
I'm thinking about repotting the two with at least a blend of regular potting and the orchid potting mix. Yes, I know I've hijacked this kitty cat thread for a thread about orchids, but I though maybe some of you might grow orchids. If you do, what kind of potting mix do you use?
My artsy photo is again edited with Topaz Labs.

I get along great with cats. Plants...not so much. I hope you find a solution. Whatever that is, Luxie definitely improves the looks of the orchids. Pretty girl.
Great artsy shot too. 🙂

Mommy tried growing orchids, but she isn't very good at it. They didn't survive. We do have some growing wild in our yard.
Pam Greer says
It would be nice to see some wild ones!

Luxie can make any photo beautiful! 🙂 Unfortunately, I can't be much help when it comes to orchids. I have a brown thumb. Plants run away when they see me coming. LOL

Luxie is a lady of grace in those photos. Miss Pam, Mom wishes she could grow orchids, but 'cause I like to nibble on green things she will just have to enjoy hearing about yours. Grandma has started to grow orchids of different colors at her home in WYO Ming. Mom says they were in bloom at Christmas time in Grandma's window.

Our Dad has a brown thumb but we cats think that throwing that "special orchid" stuff as far as you can and use plain old dirt.

I've killed every indoor plant that I've ever tried to grow. Orchids, African violets, even Mother-in-law's tongue. At least I'm consistent.

Luxie is beautiful and the effect brings her lovely colouring out even more. I don't know anything about orchids but I have a Christmas cactus that thrives on neglect. It used to belong to my MIL and I know it is at least 65 years old.
