    Luxie on the Porch Again

Luxie is on the Porch Again!

Some of you may remember that last summer, we started letting Luxie on the porch.  I propped something in front of the cat door and let her stay out on the porch a little bit each day.

However, one day she figured out how to move the thing I had blocking the cat door out of the way and was halfway down the stairs before I discovered her!

I ran around the outside and scared and she ran back up the stairs.  However from that day forward anytime I let her out on the porch, she immediately went to the cat door and started trying to get out again.  She had a little taste of freedom and wanted it again.

The big problem is that she is a huge scaredy cat.  I'm afraid if she ever got outside, we'd never get her back in.  She would be hiding someplace in terror.

This week, I've started letting her back out again, but only when I am out there.  So, I've started drinking a cup of tea or a cup of coffee after lunch and sitting out there for 15 minutes.  I figure it's good for her and it's good for me too.  It feels nice to stare off into our yard, instead of staring at a computer screen!

It's working good, except that every time I come upstairs (my computer work station is in the basement) she runs to the back door, hoping to go out on the porch again.

For my artsy photo, I used Topaz Labs Plugin.

Protect her from her wanderlust, and enjoy a change of scenery each day. Sounds like a winning combination to me!

Luxie is such a good looking kitty and her mom is a great photographer. I think she's becoming a porch cat.

Lots of cats are dying to get outside, but then suddenly they are outside, the world is huge, and they do panic. Careful beautiful, Luxie.

I can image the thought of the big world adventure by far outweighs any horrors she has known. A beautiful selfie this week and the artwork so bright and springlike—like crocus yellow and white...

It is good to let her get out there occasionally, but protecting her from getting outside is important. I have the same dilemma with Alice. She so loves to go outside, but it's so dangerous, especially with her being a black cat. I've been trying to figure out a way to let her go outside safely. My mom has a large wire cage she had for her dog when we traveled. I'm thinking that would be an easy way for her to enjoy outside without risk...since we don't have a screened in porch. We shall see.

Luxie is so pretty as usual. Love the artsy photo.

It sounds like she really enjoys her porch time. The artsy enhancement of her colours is lovely.
