No need to buy a pork rub when you can make this sweet and spicy rub with only 6 ingredients!

This simple rub is great on pork chops, pork shoulder and pork loin! It's also good on chicken!

Jar of pork rub on a porch railing.

Just in time for grilling season comes this easy pork rub recipe! I admit, I have a collection of store bought rubs, they always lure me in. But you know what? It's this simple homemade rub that I turn to time and time again.

With only 6 ingredients, most of which you probably already have in your pantry, you can make this sweet and spicy rub.

This is what I used on my Wood Pellet Smoked Pork Chops!

While this rub is delicious all on it's own, you can also make a Quick and Easy Pork Chop Brine for even more juicy chops!

    Ingredients.

Salt, sugar, cayenne pepper, dry mustard, paprika and black pepper.

You only need 6 ingredients for this easy rub!

    • Kosher salt.
    • Sugar - I like to use either turbinado, demerara or brown sugar. If you are curious about turbinado sugar, here is a good article explaining What is Turbinado Sugar.
    • Cayenne pepper.
    • Dry mustard.
    • Paprika.
    • Black pepper.

    Directions.

Two photos showing rub ingredients in a red bowl and then whisked together.

Place all the rub ingredients in a bowl and then whisk together.

That's it! You've just made the best pork rub - how easy was that!

Mason jar with pork rub inside it and label reading pork rub.

I like to double or event triple the ingredients and keep a jar of it in my pantry. While it is positively delightful on pork, I also use it on chicken. Speaking of chicken, I also have a Chicken Rub recipe for you!

This recipe is so easy to modify! If you like it sweeter, add a little more sugar. Spicier? Add more pepper.
