What Happened to Winter? Garden Tuesday

LAST UPDATED: January 31, 2019 PUBLISHED: January 4, 2016 By Pam Greer 5 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

A few photos from my Southeast Tennessee Garden in December.

    Candytuft

As I walked around my garden last week taking photos, I noticed a few things that should definitely not be happening!  In the above photo, you can see that my candytuft is blooming!  I know that it does not usually bloom in December.  I don't know what's going to happen when winter settles in again.  It was crazy to think that on Christmas day we were outside in short sleeves!

    Oak leaf hydrangea

My oakleaf hydrangea, one of my favorite shrubs for year round attractiveness, is continuing to hold onto it's deep red fall colors.

    pussy willow

I know it's kind of hard to see in this photos, but my pussy willow is starting to get all fuzzy.  Too soon!!

    nandina

Speaking of year round performers, how about this nandina?!  It's new growth is a bright orange-red and it's red berries are gorgeous.

    Irises

Look at my irises!!  It looks like spring, doesn't it?  This is so troubling since I know we have about 3 more months of winter at least!

I have given up knowing when flowers should be blooming--I just enjoy them while I can!

I'm in NC, it's been a weird fall here too, and now I'm wondering if winter will hang on longer than normal this spring. With the sudden drop in temps though I wasn't prepared! I still can't find my scarves. I found you on the Maple Hill Hop, and your pictures are lovely.

It's right here Pam, in Sydney. It's cold and wet and windy. I'm wearing a cardigan in what should be the middle of a hot Australian summer. I suppose you'd like your winter back?
