Add whiskey, maple syrup and angostura bitters into a chilled cocktail glass.
Stir to combine and add an ice cube.
Garnish with an orange peel.
Notes
Liquor - we used rye whiskey because we thought it would pair nicely with the maple syrup. You can use any whiskey or bourbon. Bitters - angostura bitters is the classic. You can also add a dash or two of another style of bitter to play with the flavors. Orange Peel - the orange peel is much more than just garnish. Rub it on the rim of the glass, squeeze it over the drink to release it's oils and then drop it in the drink. Try it without using the garnish like that and taste the difference!
