Ingredients

  • 2 mangoes peeled, pitted and cut into chunks
  • cup sugar
  • cup water
  • 4 teaspoons lime juice freshly squeezed
  • 1 tablespoon dark rum optional
  • salt just a pinch

Instructions

  • Place the mangoes, sugar, water, lime juice, rum, and salt into a blender. Purée the mixture until it's smooth. Chill thoroughly in the fridge.
  • Process according to the instructions in your ice cream maker. For my Cuisinart, I use the frozen bowl, add the mango mixture and process for 30 minutes. I start checking it at 20 minutes to check for the texture I want.

Notes

Note - the rum is optional, but it does keep the sorbet from freezing too solid.  Sometimes I had 2 tablespoons of rum instead of juice 1 for an even softer texture.
