Mulled Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce cranberries
  • 1 ½ cups red wine a fruity red
  • 1 ¼ cups light brown sugar packed
  • cup candied ginger minced
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest grated
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • ½ teaspoon allspice
  • ¼ teaspoon ground cloves

Instructions

  • Combine all the ingredients in a large saucepan.  
  • Bring to a boil over high heat, stirring to dissolve the sugar.  
  • Reduce the heat to medium and cook until the sauce has thickened slightly, about 12 minutes, stirring occasionally.  
  • Transfer to a bowl and refrigerate until cold, about 3 hours.  Can be prepared up to one week ahead.
