Roasted Pears with Wine and Honey

Pears roast to a lovely sweetness in this Roasted Pears with Wine and Honey

Ingredients

  • 4 pears peeled and cored
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • ½ cup sweet dessert wine
  • 2 tablespoons honey for drizzling
  • cream or ice cream for serving
  • ½ vanilla bean

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375.
  • Grease bottom of small roasting pan with butter. Cut remaining butter up into little bits. Place pears cut side down into dish and dot with the remaining butter. Drizzle a little of the honey over each pear. Pour the wine in the dish.
  • Add the vanilla bean or stir in the vanilla extract.
  • Roast for about 30 minutes and then baste with the juice. Continue roasting for another 30 minutes.
  • Serve with ice cream or cream.

Notes

You can use brown sugar instead of honey for a deeper flavor and color. 
Flip the pears at the halfway point if you want a deeper color and caramelization on them.
You can use a any sweeter white wine if you don't have a dessert wine or even white grape juice.
