    Black-eyed Susan| Garden Tuesday

    Black-eyed Susan | Sidewalk Shoes

Plant one little black-eyed susan plant and you will be rewarded.  Rewarded, that is, if you don't mind it showing up all over your garden in a few short years!  I don't.  I love it.  It starts blooming around around the end of July, early August for me and it always makes me think of fall.  It's like it's sunny yellow and deep chocolate brown are little reminders of fall's color coming soon.  I love the large clumps that it forms and besides, it's so photogenic - don't you think?

My favorite flowers are daisies, but I think black-eyed susans are a close second.  I love simple flowers with the petals radiating from the center - kind of like the flowers we always drew as children.  How about you, what is your favorite flower?

Beautiful flowers! Lately I'm a sucker for sunflowers, but I really love tulips.. there's just something romantic about them!

My post is also about Rudbeckia, but a larger kind than the one you show here. Talk about taking over the garden - but I do no mind either. If only you were near by you could have some of mine.

Personally we love black-eyes Susans and the more the merrier. They seem to bloom forever in the summer.
