    Zinnias for Garden Tuesday

I have a flower bed by my mailbox that stays in a perpetual stage of transition.  I tried to get lavender to grow in it and it does okay, but it doesn't really seem to flourish there.  While I try to decide on what perennials to put there, I thought maybe some annuals could just hang around for awhile.  So, I bought a packet of zinnia seeds this spring and just kind of sprinkled them over the bed.  I don't even think I worked them in, maybe just a little scratching around to cover them a bit.

Those few minutes have paid me back profusely.  The zinnias have popped up in shades of red to orange to pink.  Each flower looking a little different from the next!  I like this so much I may do it again next year.  Maybe mixing up the seeds to try more specific colors instead of a heady red/orange mix.  With all my emphasis on perennials, I forget the charm of annuals, and how they pay us back with months and months of blooms!

I think your mixed colors are nice; no need to try to sort them next year, especially when the effort required for such pretty flowers was so minimal!
