    Hosta for Garden Tuesday

LAST UPDATED: January 31, 2019 PUBLISHED: June 23, 2015 By Pam Greer 9 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

    Delicate hosta blooms.

    Hosta flowers

I know that hosta is primarily grown for it's gorgeous leaves.  Their leaves come in almost every imaginable shade of green and variegated or not.   Those with bright green leaves can brighten up a shady spot.  They also spread rapidly and love being divided.  Before too long your single hosta plant has little babies all over the yard.  They have a lot going for them,  but one of the things that I think they don't get enough recognition for is their flowers.  Around mid summer, tall spires of delicate white to purple-white flowers pop up from each plant.  They eventually get a little top heavy and are soon nodding their heads over all of our garden paths.    I love their delicate beauty.

It's winter here, so I can't join in your meme, but I really like your photos a lot.

I wonder what happened to the hostas we used to have? I think they might have been killed when the trees around them came down during an early snow a few years back. Yours are pretty; now I want more.
