Checking in on my Proven Winners plants, Supertunia in Burgundy and Mojave Tangerine Portulaca.
Do you remember back in April when I excitedly posted photos of all my new Proven Winners plants that had just arrived? I thought you might like an update on a couple of them! I can not begin to say enough good things about the Supertunia Picasso in Burgundy. It is so new, that I can't link to it on their website, but you can check out the Picasso in Pink. This is the most profuse petunia that I have ever grown and I have planted a lot of the petunias! The blossoms are smaller than the usual petunias that I plant and I love this! It makes the plant look like it is simply covered in blooms - which it is! The blossoms are deep purple and rimmed in green. I planted them in two planters hanging off of my porch and they are just gorgeous!
Next to them, I planted Mojave Tangerine Portulaca. This is a smaller more compact plant that is heat and drought tolerant. I love it's small fleshy leaves and soft tangerine flowers. It pairs beautifully with the purple from the supertunias. Sometimes I love mixing colors from opposite sides of the color wheel, they just seem to bring out the vibrancy in each other.

Pretty flowers! I'll probably be checking out what's available in September, because my daughter's wedding is in our yard in October. I love spring flowers.
