    Snail

A snail enjoying an early morning stroll on my hosta!

    Snail on Hosta Leaf

What is your favorite time to enjoy your garden?  Mine is bright and early in the morning.  Everything is wet with dew.  The birds are hopping about trying to be the early bird catching the worm.  The sun is peeking from behind our trees.  It's cool and calm with the hint of things waking up.  If you are really lucky the mosquitos haven't woken up yet.

One of my favorite things to see are the snails as they make their way back to their daytime sleeping spot.  This pretty good sized snail was enjoying a little morning dew on the hosta as he finished off a busy night.  Sometimes I find them far out in the driveway and I usually pick them up and place them back into a nice shady spot to settle in for the day.  Yes, I know they can be a pain, but unless they are massively eating one of my favorite plants, I feel that we can co-exist quite nicely.

I'm a night owl. I like late afternoon. I also love going outside around 4 or 5AM, when I can't see anything, but I can hear the owls talking amongst themselves.

I occasionally find a small snail but because our ducks are loose several days a week (pest control, mostly for grasshoppers), there aren't many. My favorite is by far the larger woods snails that don't come out into the garden. They're quite beautiful.

I like the early morning time in the garden also.... peaceful, new and fresh... quiet. You have a soft heart toward the snails. 🙂 Thank you for the blog party and the work you do on it as you host it.
