Verbena, Crepe Myrtle, Rose of Sharon

LAST UPDATED: January 31, 2019 PUBLISHED: July 7, 2015 By Pam Greer 6 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

A few photos from my mid-summer garden:  verbena, crepe myrtle, Rose of Sharon, black-eyed susan, tomato plant, and birdies.  Post may contain affiliate links.

Birdies on Wild bird's unlimited bird feeder

I thought I would open up with some birdies on my bird feeder.  After battling squirrels and raccoons for years, we finally settled on this pole model from Wild Birds Unlimited.  It allows us to have two feeders and a suet feeder and the squirrels and the raccoons can't get to any of it!

    Crepe Myrtle

It seems like it's feast or famine around here when it comes to rain.  A couple of weeks ago, I was complaining about having to put my sprinkler out every couple of days because it was 97 degrees and no rain in sight.  Well, last week, I think it rained every day!  We got over 5 inches of rain.  When it wasn't raining, it was coolish and cloudy.

    Black eyed susans

The black-eyed susans are getting ready to open up.  See the money plant in the background?

    Rose of Sharon

My Rose of Sharon's are just loaded with blooms.  I have a row of these lining both sides of my backyard.

    Tomato Plant

With our CSA giving us more vegetables that we know what to do with, we do try to have one or two cherry tomato plants.  This one has shot up with all the rain!

    Meteor shower verbena

      Hi Pam ๐Ÿ™‚

The birds are so cute. I've tried really hard to take pictures of them, but they never sit still long enough to get a good one. I'm blaming it on them, not me of course ๐Ÿ˜‰

      Your flowers are gorgeous.

      xo,

I adore crepe myrtle. There was a pink one in the neighbour's yard, near the fence. As a child I'd sit underneath the overhanging branches on a gentle windy day - the blossoms would fall and I'd be covered in a carpet of soft pink blooms. The new owners cut it down - a sad day indeed.

      Hi Pam:)
Oh those darn squirrels!!! My feeders are under the trees so the poles don't help much. I LOVE yours especially since you can included the suet feeder! I've taken to catch and release with the squirrels these days. I must say I'm getting pretty good at it but it seems I get rid of two and three come back. I can only keep up with them when Im not in New York!!! I will think of a better way eventually, lol...

Your Rose of Sharon is GorgeeOUS! I have never been able to grow one Rose of Sharon forget about a driveway of them! They must look so pretty:)

Your pictures brightened my day. Thank you so much for leaving the lovely comments on my blog. I'm not back to blogging yet but hopefully it won't be too much longer. I sure hope it's in time to be able to share for Garden Tuesday, I've been getting some cool hummingbird pictures:)

Your Rose of Sharon is gorgeous! I don't think I can grow that in my zone. I can't believe you don't have any problems with coons or squirrels at your feeder. I have the same shepherd's hook, and they still get to it. It can be so frustrating because they break every feeder I buy and eat so much food.

I love that pole idea for the bird feeders. I too am battling the squirrels and one wily raccoon. Your cherry tomato plant looks better than mine right now ๐Ÿ™‚
