    Rose of Sharon

LAST UPDATED: January 31, 2019 PUBLISHED: August 1, 2016 By Pam Greer 10 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

    Fennel

A few random photos from my garden this week.  Random because I am much too tired and hot to put together any sort of theme or pattern.  I did a 3 hour newborn photo session this morning and I am worn out!  She got a little fussy in the middle of the session, so I took some visiting relatives out to the lake for some family shots.  It was crazy hot and crazy sunny.  So, I use all of that as a feeble excuse for my totally random garden photos.  On a lighter note, we got an inch and a half of rain yesterday!!!  That is probably more rain than we've gotten all month.  I had already set the sprinklers out to be turned on this morning, but they weren't needed!   Above is my fennel all gone to seed.

    Purple coneflowers

I used to have purple coneflowers all over my flower beds.  Unfortunately their leaves look almost identical to a weed that I also have all over my flower bed, so oops.  Now, all I have is this one lone cheater that came up in the back yard.

    Rose of Sharon

    Oak Leaf Hydrangea

My two favorite flowering shrubs.  The Rose of Sharon's are at their peak with their delicate double pink blossoms.  The Oak Leaf hydrangeas are really struggling in this heat with no rain.  They have such huge leaves, they need lots of moisture.  Every day I find them wilted.  Their flowers lasted the shortest time ever!

    Garden bunny

Mr. Garden Bunny doesn't seem to be doing anything about the invasive creeping myrtle that is covering our fence.  I think he feels that if I'm not going to do anything, he's certainly not going to do anything.

    Quicksilver Artemisa from Proven Winners

Last is myQuicksilver Artemesia from Proven Winners.   I tried to show how spectacular it is in the evening light, it just glows.  But it's kind of hard to capture with the camera.

Sometimes photographing what's in our gardens is refreshing because too often we are looking for the next best pic somewhere else. I am glad you got some rain. Denyse

Wildflowers are the best, because they need no tending! It was hot here, too, but we got some huge rainstorms Friday (and Saturday, Sunday and Monday), and it's been around 70 since then. But it's early August, and the heat will return, because that's just what happens...Happy Garden Tuesday, Pam.

Everything looks beautiful. I would much rather photograph cats than babies- and cats are not easy either 🙂
