Every week I explain why that week's post will be short. Usually it's because my photography business is keeping me too busy. Not this week. I am actually caught up on all my photo editing. Why? Because I haven't had any photo sessions for over a week. Why? Because I have Shingles!! After watching countless commercials urging people of a certain age to get the vaccine, I now know what all the fuss is about. I have never experienced such pain in my life! It's relentless. Pain 24/7. For days and days. Right now the deep muscle/bone pain as sort of faded and it's left the blistering pain of the skin. I described it today to my husband. You know when you're little and you fall off your bike and scrape your knee? That raw burning, don't touch it, pain. That's what it feels like. Except it doesn't go away or get better. Oh, it will eventually. I'm told it is usually 3-5 weeks. But for right now, I walk around holding my shirts away from my back and my stomach. Sleep is almost out of the question. So, here are a few garden pics. Taken in the hopes of distracting myself from the pain. It wasn't successful!

Oh no, that's terrible about the shingles. I hope it's better now (I see that this is a somewhat old post)? I had shingles some year ago and it was awful, even if it was quite mild in my case. I had a few blisters on my back, then a terrible skin pain. A topical anaesthetic actually helped.
Beautiful flower pics!! The black-eyed Suzie is a beautiful flower.

When your headline said Shingles, I thought you were having your house re-roofed. My mother had shingles, and said it was terrible. My dearly beloved has been vaccinated for shingles, and I suppose I ought to be, also. Best luck for a speedy recovery and NO recurrence!

Shingles are not pleasant at all. Best wishes for your recovery. Pretty garden images.

On the bright side, the photos are really lovely!

I am so sorry you are suffering with shingles, my Mom had them last year and said they were very painful. Then she had to stay away from her granddaughter who was pregnant because it could harm the baby.

Oh no! I have heard that this is very painful. I hope the flowers cheered you up a bit! My mint is at the same stage and has flowers. Not really sure what to do with it!

I am so sorry to hear this. I got shingles in my 40's all over my forehead and head-it was horrible. Hopefully you have some good RX-all you can do is ride it out. Best of luck healing.

Oh, how awful! My husband had shingles earlier this year and he was miserable. I keep reminding him he needs to get the vaccine, even though he's had the virus. You can get it twice. I need to get the shot, too. I had a mild case about 20 years ago. They caught it right away and put me on Acyclovir, but I don't remember feeling terribly miserable, but my husband sure did. Hope you're feeling better soon!
