    Purple Iris for Garden Tuesday

    Light purple iris

Well, we are officially out of the drought here in Chattanooga!  We are actually 5 inches above the year in rainfall.  I am praying that this keeps up.  Last year, with the relentless heat and no rain, I had to water the yard daily.  I just basically rotated the speakers in a clockwise fashion around the yard.  I don't know about you, but every single time I set up the sprinklers, it's like day one.  I have to rethink, realign, make sure all of my flower beds are getting watered.  Plus, I can never get them set up without one good blast in the face.  Every.  Single.  Time.

All that to explain the beautiful raindrops on my purple Iris.  A few years ago, my blogger friend, Jain in California was doing a giveaway of some Iris tubers.  She was dividing hers and had extras.  I won!  At first, I tried the iris in the back yard, but as the trees around my yard grew, the back became to shaded.  With our massive hickory tree in the front yard, it's almost becoming too shaded.  So, I moved these iris to the front bed by the mailbox and they are thriving.  A few still haven't bloomed, but each year a few more bloom.

How delightful and charming are your irises. Such pretty shades of blue and purple.

      They are beautiful!

Like you, I love perennials. They are a surprise gift every year when they pop out, whether jonquils, peonies, or something to eat like figs or pears.

Those are nice, do you have to dig them up every year?

I live in the central valley of California and we're officially out of the drought too. I'm hoping we have a few years of good rainfall so we can remain out. We do live in a desert though.

I love the flower. So beautiful and your photography is more than excellent.

      Have a fabulous day. ☺

They're so pretty! Our fruit trees started blooming last week. Spring is wonderful. We also are 4" over average rainfall.
