Garlic Chive Flowers | Garden Tuesday

LAST UPDATED: February 1, 2019 PUBLISHED: September 9, 2014 By Pam Greer 15 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

    Garlic Chives | Sidewalk Shoes

Since this is picnic week here at Sidewalk Shoes, I thought, what's picnic without a vase of simple flowers.  Now, I could have gone and picked some zinnias or black eyed susans, but I decided to be a little unconventional.  As much as I have tried to eradicate the garlic chives from my herb bed, and replace them with regular old chives, they are refuse to go away.  They are definitely the bullies of the herb bed.  But they do look so pretty with their tall white delicate flowers.

They are perfect for a picnic.  Their soft white blossoms don't distract from your yummy picnic food at all!  And, yes I realized after posting last weeks post, that I forgot to include my link.  I went back and added it later and a few of you found it! I'll remember this week!

I keep fighting the battle against these pretty little flowers, but I can never seem to rid my garden of them completely. I have, however, managed to get rid of all my catmint. Finally!! It's pretty, but far too invasive.

Cooler temps rolled in last night (along with the wind and rain... 1 1/2 inches!). I'm not ready for fall, but I am looking forward to some yard-free months. 🙂

I'm trying to cut them before they go to seed. Though I don't think it even matters!

They're beautiful until you decide maybe you don't need so many in your yard!

Oh, I have mint too! There is a small patch where these two fight for dominance!

Pam, Those chives pop up all over my yard and when I pull them up the scent is nearly overwhelming! I will keep up the battle, however. Your flowers make such a dainty centerpiece and perfect for a little touch on a picnic table. When my mint and basil go to flower I use them too, but only if the delicious aroma works with the food. Your shots are so beautiful! Linda
