These photos aren't great as I took them out my window, however I wanted to show you this cute juvenile cardinal. I'm always amazed at the number of baby birds around here. With our two cats, our neighbors two cats, and the various and assorted other cats that pass through here on a daily basis, you wouldn't think we would have so many babies. But we do, and I love watching them. They spend a lot of time just perched, watching everything that goes on. Watching the other birds eat from the feeders and then making a clumsy attempt themselves.
My fennel has gone to seed and if I want any fresh fennel seeds in my spice cabinet it is definitely time to harvest some!
The last of the volunteer tomatoes. I love all the stages of ripening from green to orange to deep red pick me now shades!

Hi Pam!!!
Are you kidding me, that picture is absolutely amazing!!! What a GREAT shot!!! I think it would make a great desk top picture:)
We don't have very many babies around here. I sure wish we did. We do have a few not so friendly cats next door but I don't think they are the problem. I have a feeling I'm missing something. I''l be spending some time this Winter trying to figure out what:)
I've just harvested some Ornamental Fennel seeds. I've never saved them for cooking before so we'll see. I'm curious, have you ever dug up your bulb? I haven't. I'm going to leave some seeds on this year. It seems the fennel reseeds quite easily.
Thanks so much for sharing, Pam...I'm really having a difficult time adjusting to October, lol...
