The colors are just beginning to change here and the rest of the garden is at that awkward in between stage, so I thought I show some of the wildlife. Above is a downy woodpecker (or at least I think it's a downy). They love the suet.
This is the red headed woodpecker. We have been watching him grow up. As a juvenile his head is gray and then he slowly fills in with red. These aren't that good, because I took them through the window, but I knew if I went outside, he would take off.
And again, this is shot through the window. In case you're not sure what you're looking at - that is a squirrel on top of our Virgin Mary statue! They love to perch there!

We have lots of squirrels, but I rarely see a woodpecker. And since my walls are 18" thick, I don't hear them at all!

We have lots of woodpeckers and squirrels too. Need to get the suet feeder back up for winter.

Great photos. We have downy woodpeckers and an occasional Pileated one that look like Woody Woodpecker. Of course many squirrels in PA.

I love this post! I'm amazed at the different woodpeckers you have, different than my woodpeckers 🙂 Although, the woodpeckers around here are just as crazy about suet as yours!

What kind of woodpeckers do you have?
