Cats + Christmas = #Feastivities

Why yes, we are the kind of people who include a kitty cat or two in the Christmas card!  Which is probably one of the reasons that Fancy Feast asked if I would like to share a little about how I feel about Christmas and cats to help launch their website Feastivities by Fancy Feast.  Ah...Christmas and cats...two of my favorite things.  Not only are they my favorite things, but they go together so nicely.

What is it about Christmas trees that make cats want to sleep by them?  When Coco was a kitten, she immediately adopted this small decorative tree as her own.  She would jump up on the table and just lie beside it.  Creating countless photo ops for me!

Now that she's older, it's still her favorite place.   I suspect that I will take another set of these photos this year.  It's kind of become a tradition.  Coco by her tree.

I must admit it's not all rosy, cats and Christmas, that is.  There are the countless ornaments batted off of trees, found usually some time around Easter.  The corners of presents that get chewed upon.  The ribbons that get untied.  But then again, they are so helpful around Christmas.  How could you hang your wreath without it first being inspected by a kitty cat?  Deemed worthy only after it passes the kitty cat nap test.

I couldn't finish talking without mentioning the kitty cat Christmas presents, both for them and for the people who love them.  Nothing makes a cat lover more happy than a Christmas gift that shows their love of cats.  I can think of no better place to look for such a gift that Fancy Feast's Feastivities website!  The 31st annual Fancy Feast Holiday 2014 ornament is so elegant and gorgeous, even dog lovers would love it!  Fancy Feast partnered with Refinery29 to create it's 2014 Feastivities Gift Guide.  I want the Mint cat earrings and the Meow Meow Scarf (well I want it all, but I'm trying not be greedy!).

Now, Fancy Feast is kicking all this off to celebrate the Fancy Feast Broths.  They even have a slogan, "The Holidays Just Got More Enjoyabowl" - isn't that purrfect!  And wouldn't it be simply fantastic if I had a photo of Patchouli with her very, very favorite Fancy Feast Broths?  It would be because I don't know if you are aware of it or not, but cats are weirdly picky, and Patchouli is the weirdest of them all.  She wouldn't eat canned cat food.  Not at all.  Not one little bit.  She kind of licked it, but then wouldn't actually eat it.  Guess what she loves?  Fancy Feast Broths.  I saw them in the store and bought them as a last ditch attempt, and she loves them.  She laps up all the broth and still leaves a bit of the solids (which is ridiculous because you can see it's shrimp and fish!), but she loves the broth!

Coco, on the other hand, is a gravy girl.  She doesn't like canned cat food unless it has bits of meat and gravy.  She loves meat and chicken, but doesn't like fish.  I know!  I have the weirdest cats!  Luckily Fancy Feast has such a variety, they can both be happy!

So, that's it.  It just wouldn't feel like Christmas with a kitty cat to share it with.    They are involved in every single step of Christmas.  Laying on the boxes as you bring down the decorations, attacking the string of lights as you try to hang them, getting that wild eyed look as they decide whether to climb the tree or just knock off an ornament or two, attacking ribbons and paper and boxes in the carnage on Christmas morning, and bringing the circle to a close by again laying on the boxes as you bring them down to put the decorations away.

I want to end with one last photo.  It's not a good photo.  It's from before digital, so I had to scan it in.  It's my beloved Scrappycat.  Scrappycat loved to lie under the Christmas tree.  Practically every day when I came home from work this is how I would find her.  She knew how to have a relaxing Christmas.  Even when are cats are long gone, they are still a part of our Christmas memories.
