Stubby, our resident feral kitty cat.
I thought I'd give an update on Stubby, our feral stray cat. He is now allowing me to hold out my hand and he'll lean forward and sniff quickly the tips of my fingers. I ache to hug and pet him, but that is close as we can come right now.
He doesn't hear very well, but I talk and talk to him. He just looks at me with this very, very serious look on his face.
I've started moving his food closer and closer to the house. If we could get him to use the cat door and come on our screened in porch, we could put him a heated house out there in the winter.
I know all his photos look the same, but that's just the look he gives me all the time. I've never heard him meow. I'll just keep working on him!

We has our paws crossed that he will trust you more and at least use the cat door to come on your screened porch so he can have a warm house this winter.

I have had a lot of feral cats and still have some here. You are doing just the right thing and just be patient with him It is so rewarding when they begin to trust you. Good luck with Stubby.

What a pretty boy! Seems like you're making progress with him, even if it seems terribly slow. Sniffing your fingers is a big deal, so congrats! Hope you're able to lure him inside before winter!

He looks just like my Lenny who was rescued from a brush pile. Both parents were feral. What a handsome boy! If he's anything like Lenny, he'll steal your heart away, once of course, he lets you.

He's such a handsome little kitty! It looks like he wants so badly to trust you, but he just can't bring himself to do it. Keep working on him. He might just surprise you one day. Kitties are silly like that.

Pam, he's beautiful!! When my little doggies started getting hard of hearing, they stopped barking. I just thought it was because they couldn't hear themselves. That might be why Stubby isn't meowing. I bet you will have him trained by the time it gets cold. Is there a way you can tape the cat door open for a while. Maybe only at feeding time. I had to do that for my stray cats to come in my garage. Now they just copy each other and come in. You're sweet to take care of him. Lynda

He's a cutie, Pam. He doesn't look ill treated...what's your opinion on that? Difficult to see, but he looks healthy enough. An amazing color, too.
I'll have my daughter's evil cat here for the month of August. He only likes her. Hates me. And I love cats. I look at him and say: you are a stupid cat not to notice how much more loving you'd get if you didn't scratch and bite.
