A review of Missing Pieces by Heather Gudenkauf. Post may contain affiliate links.
Sarah and Jack Quinlan travel back to Jack’s hometown of Penny Gate, Iowa when Jack’s Aunt Julia is hospitalized after a fall. Upon arriving there, Sarah slowly starts to learn things about Jack’s past.
The story is told from Sarah’s point of view. We learn the mystery of Jack’s past as she learns it. Jack had told her that his parents died in a car accident. Sarah learns this was not true. As she learns more, she starts to doubt her husband. Why had he lied to her? What did he have to hide.
Sarah had been an investigative reporter before quitting work, so she latches on to this like any good reporter would. The only problem is that it’s her life, her relationship that is on the line.
Plenty of mystery, twists and turns. I figured a few things out along the way, but it held plenty of surprises. I have been a fan of Heather Gudenkauf’s since her first book, and Missing Pieces keeps me a fan.
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
