The Winter Girl by Matt Marinovich

The Winter Girl by Matt Marinovich

Several of the reviews of The Winter Girl: A Novel mention it’s “Hitchcockian” feel and it really does have that feeling. There are dark plot twists, with things not as they seem.

The story begins with a young married couple, Scott and Elise returning to Elise’s childhood home because her father, Victor is dying.  We get hints that Victor is not a very nice person, and later find out just how true these hints are.   Scott almost immediately becomes fascinated with the empty house next door.  The lights must be on some kind of timer because they turn on and off at the same time each day.  He makes a big mistake when he decides to break into the house to check it out.

It’s hard to tell much without giving anything away.  This is a fast read.  The dialogue is short and to the point.  None of the characters are particularly likable and I didn’t find myself rooting for anyone, just swept along in the evilness of the story.

A fast, easy read psychological thriller.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Well, maybe next winter. I'm going to add it to my Amazon Wish list and when fall rolls around I'll check it out...Spring and summer to me mean more uplifting books...
I do always enjoy reading your review...
