Patchouli Cat Playing in the Yard

LAST UPDATED: January 21, 2019 PUBLISHED: April 22, 2016 By Pam Greer 32 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

Tuxedo cat playing in the yard

You don't get to see many photos of Patchouli around here.  That's because we like to refer to her as "Crazy Aunt Patchouli."  Doesn't everyone have a crazy aunt?  The one that's a little eccentric.  The one that does her own thing.  Well, Patchouli is our crazy aunt.  She lives in our basement (don't fret, she has her own futon, beanbag bed, and x-box system).  The basement is where my computer lives, so I am down here with her practically all day long.  The thing about Patchouli is that at the sight of another cat, she drops down, meowing at the top of her lungs, like she is being killed.  They don't even have to come near her.  So she spends a lot of time inside.  In the basement.  Where she still manages to freak out if another cat shows up at her window.

We have to make a point to bring her outside to play.  To make sure all of the other kitty cats are away so she can play in the yard.  We bring a toy out and spend a few minutes enticing her to run and jump.  Of course pretty soon another cat wanders up to see what all the excitement is, and we have to escort her to the basement/garage door for her to make her escape.

Since you don't get to see a lot of her, this post is all her, Patchouli Cat Playing in the Yard.

For our entry for Caturday Art, I ran a photo of her through the Topaz Labs Plugin, Impressionist, Cezanne 2.

Bless her sweet little heart! Patchouli certainly is gorgeous. I'm so glad that you are able to accommodate her needs like that. Only a true animal lover will go above and beyond for their pets. Been there, done that. Thanks for sharing her with us...and gorgeous art print this week.

Patchouli is such a cutie! Not all cats like the outdoors. My cat also prefers to be inside.

Awww so sad Patchouli can't go outside, but considering her reaction to other cats, that's probably a good thing. lol Our cats stay upstairs in what's basically a studio. I go up there and work, on my son's bed all day, and that afternoon he comes home and spends time up there, and then overnight for bed. Not a bad gig for the cats and my son. =)

Aw, she is beautiful. And I know what you mean about cat colonies. My Popoki is slowly but surely learning that other cats will not kill her, after nearly 6 months of living here. It's a slow process, and even now, she spends much of her time in my writing studio or in our family room. She loves the dogs, but the cats freak her. We do what we can, right?

We are happy you get playtime in the yard, but are so sad that the other kitties scare you and you have to stay in the basement. Hope you'll join us for Sunday Selfies more often. Hi Pam:)
I once had a "crazy" aunt pauline, lol...while I was reading this post I got flashbacks of her fire engine red lipstick smeared all over her lips as was the fashion in her days. (I think:)

Patchouli looks like she enjoyed her time out in the sun. Too bad those other neighboring cats didn't stay away a while longer.

Your pictures are amazing, Pam! Thank you so much for sharing...

P.S. Patchouli is one of my very best favorite scents! (yes I'm from "that" era:)
