    Cats and Orchids

    Calico cat and Orchid

Do you grow orchids?  My daughter got me one several years ago for Mother's Day.  I always thought they were difficult to grow, it turns out they aren't.  Now I have 4 orchids, which is great because it seems like at least one of them is always blooming.  This deep pink one is one of my favorites.  I sat it down on the floor to try and get a better photo of the blooms.  Well, you know what that means.

    Calico Cat with Orchids

Someone decided she had to come help me with the photos.  Amazingly enough both Coco and Luxie pretty much leave my orchids alone.  I've probably jinxed myself and I'll come home from the grocery store today and find these blooms every where!   Before growing any plant, I always make sure that they are non toxic to cats, and I was very pleased to discover that orchids are just fine!!

I have tried to grow them a couple of times, but I am not very good at house plants. They are so beautiful.

Our Lucy eats blooming plants...so you know we don't have any in the house! Have a lovely day!

Awww, what a pretty girl you are too. I'm glad mom cares about putting the right plants so you don't get sick or worse.

Have a purrfect Feline Friday. ๐Ÿ™‚

Mommy killed her orchid, maybe we will allow her to try again when she isn't distracted by kittens.

These photos are just beautiful! Orchids are my favorites. I hope they continue to live life in peaceful coexistence with your furbabies!

I'm so jealous. I always kill my orchids with kindness (i.e., too much water). No matter how much I tell myself to avoid watering, I can't help it and they wither away.

Coco is beautiful! My brother got my Mom orchids, I don't know what she has done, but none of them has ever bloomed again ๐Ÿ™ Beautiful photos!

Our old cat-Penelope would love to play with the orchids-knocking them off.

I love orchids, too. For whatever reason, they are one of the only flowers that our cats leave alone.

Beautiful orchid and kitty. I didn't know they were non-toxic to cats- that is good.

My son gave me one about a month ago and it is doing great. It's about the same color as yours here. I just lost one finally after about 4 years. It would die, I would take off the dead buds and leaves, then just kept watering it and before you know it, it was blooming again...a good investment I think for color all year round.

Same here. My cat played with every plant in the house until they were completely destroyed. But that's ok, because I really suck at gardening ๐Ÿ™‚

Don't they normally like to sleep in the plant pot?
