Fresh & Pure and Nourish & Glow by Jules Aron
To say that I was excited to learn that my favorite cocktail book author Jules Aron was releasing two new books would be an understatement. I was thrilled. Her Zen and Tonic Book is my most favorite cocktail book of all time. I've made so many things from it, including this Vanilla Infused Rum and these Boozy Bourbon Cocoa Pops. I don't know which I am more excited about Fresh & Pure - with is homemade beauty balms and cleansers or Nourish & Glow which is foods and elixirs!
Honestly, it's going to be hard to pick a favorite!
Fresh & Pure
I was so pleased to be able to add Fresh & Pure by Jules Aron to my collection of books from Jules Aron. The cover is absolutely gorgeous and I love the way Zen & Tonic, Nourish & Glow and Fresh & Pure look on my bookshelf. Even better than their amazing covers, is what is inside!
I love the concept of Fresh & Pure - it's tag line is Organically Crafted Beauty Balms & Cleansers. Just like in food, I have switched to organic beauty products. I had no idea that I could be making some of the products myself! As someone who prefers to make things rather than by them, this is perfect!
The book opens with an introduction and then moves into a chapter on the Natural Beauty Apothecary. All of the ingredients that you need and the tools that you need to start making your own beauty products.
I have marked several things to try. I will list the chapters and a few of the things I want to try:
Facial Skin Care - this chapter is loaded with everything from cleansing oils, to masks to toners and moisturizers! I definitely want to try the Nourishing Eye Balm and the Apple and Green Tea Face Toner.
Natural Makeup - I had no idea you could make your own make up! I want to make the Chocolate Lip Butter and the Eye Makeup Remover.
Body Care - I want to try practically everything in this chapter (I love body care products!) Definitely starting with the Warming Vanilla Body Oil and the Luscious Mango Body Polish.
Hand and Foot Care - another favorite! The Moisturizing Hand Sanitizer and the Minty Fresh Food Powder are on my list!
Hair Care - I imagine the Calendula Blossom Shampoo smells divine and I need the Rosemary Hot Oil Treatment.
Health and Hygiene - Wish I had known about the Flu and Sinus Vapor Rub last month, saving that for next flu season. The Moisturizing Bug Repellant is going to come in handy this summer.
Spa Day Treats - The Cardamom Rose Chia Pudding is gorgeous, I want to make it just so I can photograph it before I eat it. The Mimosa Sorbet sounds delicious!
The book finishes with some basic apothecary techniques, like how to do infusions and how to do a skin-patch test.
I'm so excited to start making my own beauty products!
Nourish & Glow
Nourish & Glow by Jules Aron opens with an introduction and then goes into The Beauty Kitchen. Here she talks about the different ingredients, including pantry items, foods, herbs and spices and even kitchen tools.
I have marked so much to try! I'm just going to list each chapter and a couple of the recipes that I've marked to try:
Morning Starters - Chocolate Cherry Goji Grain-Free Granola and Buckwheat Pancakes with Mixed Berry Compote
Supercharged Snacks - Mediterranean Crisps and Chunky Guacamole with Tomatillos
A Cup of Comfort - Thai Noodle Nourish Bowl and Mushroom Chowder
Salads and Slaws - Quinoa Tabbouleh with Harissa Chickpeas and Rosemary Maple-Roasted Vegetable Salad
Entrees and Mains - Wild Mushroom Spinach Tarts and Smoky Portobello Steak with Chimichurri Sauce
Sweet Endings - Carrot Cake Donuts with Citrus Cream Cheese Frosting and Blueberry Maqui Cheesecake
Sipping Pretty - Elderberry Cordial and Jade Lotus Latte
Homemade Provisions - Nut and Seed Milks and Garlic Dill Pickles
Not only does everything sound delicious, but it looks delicious. The photos are gorgeous!
The only decision is going to be what to try first!
