Hibiscus Petunias and Black Eyed Susans

LAST UPDATED: January 31, 2019 PUBLISHED: August 29, 2016 By Pam Greer 4 Comments As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.

    Hibiscus Summerific Proven Winners

I just had to share another photo of this gorgeous Summerific "Perfect Storm" hibiscus from Proven Winners!   This bloom is about the size of my hand, maybe even a little bigger.  It is an absolute show stopper in my garden!

    Petunia on the road

Another show stopper is this petunia plant that popped up on the street in front of our house.  These are the same petunias that I have planted in my pots on my porch, so a seed must have carried forward.  This needs one of those "bloom where you are planted" captions, doesn't it?

    Black eyed susans

    Black eyed susans

The black eyed susans are in full force.  They always remind me that fall is one the way.  I think they look pretty when paired with the catmint walkers low.  I love the combination of golden yellow flowers and purple flowers.

    Purple garden phlox

My phlox has really struggled this year.  I don't think the bed gets enough light anymore.  It's leaves used to be a dark green and this year they are much lighter and much more sparse.  Of course we are in a drought and down about 12 inches of rain this year, so maybe that has something to do with it.

I'm pretty much over summer.  Bring on fall.

I adore hibiscus but when you grow them here the ants swarm all over them. If you forget and cut blooms for the house. . . .well, let's not go there shall we? Your kerbside petunia might just be related to the one in the onion patch!
