My job for New Years Eve was finding a cocktail recipe. I chose an Aperol Spritz, which I will be posting on Tuesday on Grey is the New Black (I'll come back here and update the link). It sounded like a fun cocktail - not too much alcohol - perfect for drinking for a couple of hours. When it comes to bubbly, I prefer a good Prosecco over champagne any day. So, when I went to the store to get Prosecco, I saw La Marca. First of all, I loved the icy blue label (yes, you can totally get me to buy your wine if you make it a pretty blue), and second of all I liked the wine accolades that were attached to it's tag. I think it was rated 90 points from Wine Enthusiast. Pretty label, high points...into the cart it goes. It did not disappoint!
La Marca Prosecco, Italy. Vine & Barrel, $15.00. They say: This sparkling wine offers a fresh and vibrant bouquet of golden apple, white peach and honeysuckle. We say: definitely pick up the fresh peach and honeysuckle and bit of tart apple. Very nice! Buy again: yes!
This would be lovely instead of champagne in a French 75 Cocktail.

I just discovered this prosseco as well, think it is great. My favorite way to enjoy it over the holidays was with a little cinnamon simple syrup. Yummy!
Happy New Year!
