Patchouli loves summer. Summer means that every morning I go outside and do battle against the weeds for 30 minutes. Yes, I set a timer. I'm a little OCD about my daily schedule. I do everything in 30 minute increments and take little walking breaks in between. But enough about me weird schedule, let's get back to Patchouli. I've mentioned before that she is extremely skittish and afraid of every other cat, whether they are threatening to her or not. So, she doesn't spend a lot of time outside. But in the early mornings, with me out there, she relaxes a bit. Not too much, but a bit.
Sometimes she even plays a little in the grass. This time, the neighbor's cats were out in their yard, so she hunkered down on the driveway, keeping a watchful eye on them. I think she also stuck her tongue out at them.
One of them wandered onto our driveway, which caused her to go on high alert. Usually after our mornings outside, she runs inside and sleeps for about 4 hours! It's exhausting being on high alert every second that you're outside!
Here she is for her artsy photo:

Hi, Pachouli. I think we are cousins but I am a short-haired Tux and you are most definitely not that, but oh, so elegant. I like your 30-minute work patterns. Sounds good to me, but maybe cut it to 10-minutes every few hours, no?
Hope to see you one day on my blog, too.

Our critters DO wear themselves out being on high alert so much. As I was typing this Graham rushed to the window to see what the neighbor dogs were barking about (NOTHING, as usual). If they'd just relax they could do more with their day.

Popoki is nervous like this, too. I've been taking her out on a leash, and it helps a lot. She's physically connected to me, so she knows she is under my protection!

Patchoili, we have a tuxedo that is very skiddish, as well. Almost afraid of his own shadow. Glad you can get out with your mom, who we know is protecting you.

Mommy needs to become OCD about time. She goes down the decoupage hole for hours and has no clue how long she has been doing it until she FINALLY gets up and realizes that her day is GONE.
