    Pileated Woodpecker | Garden Tuesday

    Pileated Woodpecker

Since not much is going on in the garden this week, I thought I'd share Mr.  Pileated Woodpecker with you.  I wish I could show you how big he is.  He doesn't look that big on this tree, but when you see him next to other birds, then you can really see.  He's almost as big as a squirrel!  His bright flash of red on his head is super visible in the dull brown colors of late winter.

They really love the suet that I put out.  If you are wanting to attract woodpeckers to your yard, I highly recommend suet.  They love the variety with nuts.  Peanuts are their jam!

The limb on this tree broke off last year during a storm and they have been going crazy with it.  I guess getting all the bugs that are feasting on the rotting tree.

Thanks to everyone that linked up last week to Garden Tuesday!  We are a small, but mighty group 🙂

We have woodpeckers with the red "hat", but none as big as a squirrel! He's awfully handsome.

And no, you're not the only one that has to pick up tulips when they come into the grocery store. It's always a lovely touch of Spring for a home and they make me smile. So do your kitties ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, he's a very pretty bird. I've only seen a woodpecker near my house once, but I hear them sometimes.

This must be a bigger woodpecker, than I saw last year in our yard (no camera:( ) -because the squirrels around are at least twice its size! Beautiful captures and am glad to join in!
