Annuals from Proven Winners for Spring 2018

It's that time of the year again!  When I get to share with you my latest shipment of Proven Winners plants for this spring!  I'm doing it a little differently this year, with collages instead of individual photos.  I'll save individual photos for later posts as we follow these plants through the growing season.

This first collage features:  Angelface Steel Blue Angelonia Angustifolia - this is new this year and will be available next year for retail.  It blooms all summer without deadheading!   I was excited to see two of my favorite petunias - Supertunias!  There is Paradise and Bubblegum.  They are both pink petunias and I look forward to comparing the two as they grow!   Next up is Rockin' Fuchsia Salvia - a new salvia, the first of it's kind to bear bright fuchsia blooms!   Since we have a shady backyard, I was thrilled to see Colorblaze Torchlight a new coleus!

Annuals from Proven Winners Including Edibles!

Continuing with more annuals from Proven Winners is Diamond Mountain Euphorbia.  This such a pretty plant.  I've planted it in a pot right by my front porch so that I can enjoy it!   Some exciting news, Proven Winners is introducing edibles!  I am so excited.  I look forward to trying Berried Treasure Strawberries, Garden Gem Tomato, and Amazel Basil!   Also included is Lemon Coral Sedum and my favorite Superbells Doublette Love Swept!   If you've never grown Superbells, I highly recommend them.  They remind me of smaller petunias and they are so prolific!

    Proven Winners Perennials

I am super excited about this year's perennials!  First up we have Autumn Frost Hosta, hosta does great in our backyard and I can't wait to see this lovely variegated variety in our yard!  However, the plant that has me the most excited is the Double Take Peach Quince!  My neighbors across the street have a flowering quince and it's my favorite spring shrub!  Another addition is the Primo Wild Rose Heuchera, I have this planted next to two other coral bells and it is beautiful!   Last in this photo is the Double Play Doozie Spiraea.  I don't have any spiraea in my garden, so this will be a new experience.

    More Perennials from Proven Winners

The last set of perennials features 3 shrubs and one plant.  The first is the White Pillar Rose of Sharon.  This variety grows in a more column shape.  I planted one last year in a different color and it's doing great, so I expect good things from this white version.  Living in the south, we love our hydrangeas, so I'm looking forward to watching Tuff Stuff Ah-Ha - Blooming Mountain Hydrangea do it's thing!   Next up is Jazz Hands Variegated Chinese Fringe Flower, fringe flowers are amazing in the garden!  Last is Midnight Masquerade Penstemon - Beardtongue.  I've never grown these before, so I look forward to seeing how they do!

Mr. Sidewalk Shoes and I spent most of Memorial Day weekend getting all of these planted!  We wanted to get them in the ground before all the heavy rain headed in.  If you love gardening and want to follow along this year be sure and sign up for my emails - you can specifically sign up for garden only or pick your interests.

Thanks for showing all of the proven winners. I'm always interesting to see what others are buying for their gardens.
