A review of Say Hey Viognier from Sort This Out Cellars. This is Weekend Wine Review #264!
I've shared this story before, but it's worth repeating. Our trip to California last year was based almost entirely around wine. We hopped from winery to winery up the California coast. Oh, we did stop to see the elephant seals, but for the most part we could enjoy the scenery along the way to each winery, no need for touristy stops. One of our first stops was Solvang, California. I immediately loved the Danish decor - I'm a sucker for these kind of places. Our first wine tasting room was at Sort This Out Cellars. When I saw their fun labels and wine names like Oh My Gosh Grenache, I was hooked. What was even better was that the wine was excellent. Fun labels, fun names, and excellent wine?!! We signed up for the wine club on the spot! Now we look forward to our shipment of wine and it brings back such fun memories from California. Our recent shipment included this Say Hey Viognier.
Say Hey Viognier, 2012, Sort This Out Cellars, Santa Ynez Valley, $25. They say: This Viognier is quite a catch. At first base you discover supple stone fruit aromas. Second base slides in with a touch of honey and as you make your way around third, the tropical fruits begin to surface. No ordinary home run here, this the in-the-park variety. Play ball. We say: creamy and smooth. Full bodied. Not overly sweet. Pineapple with hints of honey - tart and sweet. Excellent! Buy again: yes!
