    Bogle Phantom Chardonnay 2017

Bogle Wines Phantom Chardonnay 2017, Clarksburg California, purchased from Earth Fare $22.99.   The Phantom line of wines from Bogle Vineyards consists of a chardonnay and a red blend.  First of all I had no idea that "bogle" actually means goblin or phantom.  So the creation of a wine line called Phantom and talk of a haunting around the vineyards is perfect!

We decided to try the chardonnay on a whim after seeing it on sale at Earth Fare.  From the Bogle website:  it has rich layers with green apple and pear.  Spicy flavors of a fresh baked apple pie.  The barrel fermentation results in a creamy mouthfeel.  It's aged in French oak, which gives it notes of vanilla and melted caramel.  Hand stirring every two weeks creates an extra silky mouthfeel.

The vintage is 2016, it was released on August 14 2017.  Appellation - Clarksburg.   Fermented in French Oak.  Alcohol - 14.5%

    Yummy Oaky Chardonnay

We loved this yummy, oaky chardonnay.  It had that creamy mouthfeel and wonderful hints of caramel and butter.  Apples and pears.  It was not over the top oaky - it was just right.  It kept a certain lightness about, nothing too sweet or too heavy.

At Total Wine in Knoxville - it had a 5 star review from one reviewer and it's price was $17.99.  Several other favorable reviews were found on other websites.

We will definitely be picking up more of this wine!

Bogle Phantom Chardonnay with augmented reality wine app.

    Augmented Reality Wine App

Have you heard of the Augmented Reality Wine App?   It is a fun little app that creates a little story around your bottle of wine!  You download the app, then hold your phone in front of the wine bottle.  The app uses your camera to focus on the wine, then this scene starts appearing around your bottle of wine.  In this case, it first started snowing, then the snow appeared at the bottom and then the ghostly vineyards appeared!

If you are looking for more chardonnays - you might like Alloy Wine Works Chardonnay or Hayton Chardonnay.
