Calico Cat Sleeping on Sideboard
We have this antique sideboard in our dining room. It was cluttered with food props and trays for my food photos. It was a mess. So, I cleaned it off one day, or at leas my idea of cleaned it off. I still left the jars filled with old silverware, coasters, candle holders, a basket of napkins and my collection of vintage salt and pepper shakers. Yes, that's my idea of cleaned off.
I added a fall table runner, and if you remember my story of Cats on Placemats, I rolled up our everyday placemats and laid them there.
Someone, has decided that she loves the cleaned off sideboard. Please excuse my blue flannel shirt in the mirror.
Ahh...that's better. I got down low so you can't see me in the mirror any more. After removing the placemats, I noticed that I forgot to mention my husband's grandmothers red dotted bowl. Oh, and I disturbed Coco. If you are wondering why her lower fur looks blue, there is a blue leaf embroidered on the table runner and the color is bouncing up on her white fur. She really isn't becoming a Smurf.
She really finds the whole thing so exhausting. She wishes I would just put the camera away and let her get back to her sleeping. She thinks the colors of the oak complement her own fur so nicely.
Do you see a little bit of the print framed above the sideboard? When my husband and I were first married and still living in St. Louis, we used to visit antique stores and thrift stores all the time. I fell in love the print of a woman playing the piano, it is by Antoni Ditlef and called Allegro. The owner, a gruffy old man, wanted way too much for it. So, sadly we left.
Some time later, my husband went back and the old man wasn't there, it was a young guy. He sold the print to my husband for a fraction of what the old guy was asking!
For my artsy photo, I used Topaz Labs:
Coco is so beautiful! The dinnerware on the sideboard looks so nice, love that antique vibe.
Thank you!
Oooh you did worry us for a moment. Coco the Smurf does have a ring to it * grin *.
She is beautiful enough without any extra touch ups isn't she? Wonderful pictures 🙂
Thank you!
Gosh, I love how Coco's image has come out with use of Topaz. Every bit as worthy a picture over the sideboard, but then I would say that as I am a cat 🙂
The colour of the oak and the ornaments really do compliment each other and Coco, and must make equally as fine a backdrop for your other photo shoots?

Coco looks lovely just about anywhere, don't you think?! 🙂
Great shots! I love the sideboard. I love antiques in general. The artsy image is the shot I liked best of all. Coco is like, "Really? You woke me up for this?" lol She's really too cute.
Love the story about the painting. That was very sweet of your husband. 🙂
She was a little peeved at me for waking her up!
I am glad your husband was able to get the painting for you. Coco is a work of art.
Thank you!
Coco knows she is beautiful! Love that your husband went back and was able to get the artwork at a much lower price!
Yes, it is a treasured piece in our house!
I love that sideboard! The silverware looks good too. It is meant to display and wouldn't look right to have too much cleared away. Coco appreciates what you have done and feels she would make the perfect centrepiece.
She does make the perfect centerpiece doesn't she?
